All that you need to know about the new iPhone XS, XS max and iPhone XR

Every year Apple launches a new model of iPhone to much fanfare. It is not just iPhone fanatics who are excited about this event, tech geeks and even industry competitors keep a keen eye on the technological developments in the new iPhone. Apple ensures that they add an oomph factor to the phone every year to satiate the curious eyes.

This year’s event saw the launching of iPhone XS, XS max and the iPhone XR. The launch of these phones has not garnered the same amount of enthusiasm.

Let us run through what is new in this years' release.

What is new?

  • Dual sim support – While android phone started coming with dual sim support as early as 2012, Apple has just decided to take the step.
  • Improved camera- Camera is one of the main reasons people upgrade to a new phone, and Apple listed a handful of interesting improvements to the 2018 iPhone XS line. The camera is powered by a A12 bionic chip, a new image sensor and image signal processor. It also has improved True Tone flash, Smart HDR and the addition of "advanced bokeh and Depth Control" to portrait mode, which allows you to manipulate the background in edit after the photo is shot.
  • In screen touch ID- The Face recognition worked well, but this promises to be faster and efficient.
  • Durable screen- iPhones are known to be considerably fragile. One of the problems with the iPhone X was the easily breakable screen. This year, during the launch Phil Schiller, Apple's senior VP of worldwide marketing, announced that the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max use the "most durable glass ever in a smartphone." The credibility of this statement can only be ascertained after the phone is out. But this is definitely one point for Apple, as they seem to have looked into fixing on of iPhones biggest problems.
  • A good cheap phone option: Every launch sees the announcement of a new cheaper iPhone. This year it is the iPhone XR. However, the iPhone XR is a more colourful phone with a few compromises, unlike its predecessors. With the XR, Apple makes a profound shift in its strategy by bringing its "bargain" phone into the premium iPhone mix. The iPhone XR shares the design and many of the same specs as the XS and XS max, the top-tier iPhones. It comes in bright colours and has some slimmed-down features, like a smaller battery than the new iPhone XSes.

There is nothing budget about the iPhone XR’s £749 pricing. But, with the other two option priced above £1000, the pricing is bound to be attractive for iPhone loyalists.

Even with all the new features, Apple is yet to take the leap into the future of smartphones that its competitors are fast moving towards.  However, we cannot deny the technological superiority of the older iPhones. These phones were the inspiration to the technological marvel we hold in our hands today. So, if you are looking to get your hands on the iPhone 6 series or the 8 series? Check our stocks here.
